Amarone, Edinburgh

Project background A slice of Italy is now available within the ‘wow’ factor Amarone restaurant, situated in a former bank on the corner of George street and St. Andrews square. The grade A listed building was recently transformed from bank to beautiful Pizzeria. We were appointed by main contractor Dimension to carry out the plaster work required to the buildings existing interior ceilings and walls. Approach Taken This was quite a challenging project to be involved in mainly due to the ceiling heights which reached almost 8 metres at their highest [...]

Durham Place East

Project background We were part of the works involved in updating a 1930’s bungalow into an open plan modern living space. We worked along side other trades and were involved with supplying and fitting a cornice in the living/kitchen area as well as plastering the stairwell area and attic conversion upstairs. Approach Taken It was important for the client to choose a cornice that would “fit in” with the character of the building. In order to achieve this, we met with the client at our showroom and showed them samples from [...]

This required major restoration works in order to restore the beautiful ceiling to its former glory. City Crafts were invited to submit a cost for these works then appointed by Melford Developments to carry out the extensive repairs [...]

Due to wet /dry rot all 17 of the Main Hall`s timbersafe lintels required to be replaced. Unfortunately this necessitated the removal of the lower section of the existing 1.5m deep ornate cornice. Approach Taken On investigation by City Craft this was found to be very fragile & would not stand up to removal & reinstatement, this [...]

Clarence Street

Project Background Our client Mr. Banks requested our advise and an estimate to replace a missing section of Cornice and also to plaster his walls and ceiling within the properties bathroom during renovation works. The property was located in a Georgian terraced area of Edinburgh’s new town. Approach taken Once our estimate had been submitted and accepted, a sample of the existing Cornice was obtained from site and returned to our workshop where production of the material required would begin. During this time we had operatives on site to carry out [...]

Hamilton Hall

Project Background The building located in St Andrews is one of the most photographed buildings in world golf. It was most recently occupied as student residences, however the building was in a considerable state of disrepair, having seen a failed attempt to convert it, resulting in the structure being partly demolished and ‘open to the elements’. ‘Hamilton Hall’ was purchased by the Kohler Company in late 2009. Design commenced with the intention of bringing back this once exclusive and prestigious building to its former glory. The concept was to create 26 [...]
