Project Background
The George hotel is situated on the popular George Street in Edinburgh. The current hotel refurbishment works were to include a new cafe style coffee shop into the hotel. We were asked to supply and fit a large Georgian type Cornice within this new cafe which is now open to the public.
Approach Taken
Upon receiving the spec from the interior designers we manufactured the Cornice in our workshop using Casting plaster , hessian scrim and timer lathes . The Cornice was then fitted on site carefully by our expert tradesmen.

“We have just completed a project at the George Hotel, where the client was looking at introducing a coffee shop (Burr & Co) into his hotel to give guests and passing pedestrians a chance to have a coffee and sample what the hotel has to offer. The interior designers had an idea of creating a large 400mm x 400mm cornice that suits the space as well as the Georgian design of the original architecture. I called on the experience of Keith and the tradesmen at City Crafts to manufacture and install this cornice. City Crafts as always arrived on time and installed the cornice over a 2 week period to a superb standard. The client and the project team are delighted with this and what it brings to the space.”
