Project Background

Fife Council’s surveying department contacted us requesting advice and a quotation to restore badly damaged Cornice, walls and plaster arches which had been affected by a leaking roof. The areas which required restoration were located within the first floor of Kirkcaldy’s Police Station.

Approach Taken

We initially had the damaged Cornice, walls and Arches stripped back and removed so that the surrounding surface areas could dry properly prior to reinstating the new. Samples of the ornate Cornicing and moulded arch ways were obtained and returned to our workshop where production would start on the new requirements . Once the area was fully dry we plastered the existing wall carefully matching to existing surfaces where required. The Cornice and Arches were then fitted matching in to the original features carefully.

Project feedback

We instructed restoration works to be carried out by City Crafts on a project at Kirkcaldy Police Station. The work involved was highly skilled which required an excellent pedigree of workmanship. City Crafts came in and undertook the work, completing to a very high standard. The job involved the restoration of decorative coving and plastering due to water damage from the existing roof. We found City Crafts a pleasure to work with, and the level of workmanship second to none. We at Fife Council would have no hesitations in recommending the company.
